TIDES Conference Attendance Grants
A new tool from COST allows PhD students and early-career scientists from participating Inclusiveness Target Countries (ITC, see below) to apply for a grant covering attendance to conferences (see Eligibility criteria below).
This is an excellent and timely opportunity to encourage attendance, for instance, to the General Assembly of the European Geosciences Union – where several sessions explicitly refer to TIDES topics in their description.
We encourage applications from PhD students and early-career scientists from: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, fYR Macedonia, Hungary, Luxembourg, Malta, Poland, Portugal, Serbia, Slovakia, and Turkey (only PhD students and scientists from these countries can appy).
Interested applicants are invited to submit, by the deadline of December 31st, 2017, an application – consisting of:
- curriculum vitae
- conference and proposed abstract, complete with author list
- estimate of the amount requested, with justification.
The submission has to be made through COST website. Once registered and logged in the site (here Login page), the applicant will find the path to submit a request via his/her e-COST profile.
Applicants will be informed of the outcome by January 8th, 2018.

Eligibility
The following eligibility criteria applies:
Evaluation and selection of applicants
The evaluation of each Conference Grant application will be performed by a Conference Grant Evaluation Committee.
The selection of successful applicants will be done in consideration of the scientific scope of the proposed mission and how the mission can support the Action in achieving its scientific objectives.
Financial support
A Conference Grant is a fixed financial contribution which takes into consideration the budget request of the applicant and the outcome of the evaluation of the application by the delegated persons. Conference Grants do not necessarily cover all of the expenses related to participating in a given conference. A Conference Grant is a contribution to the overall travel, accommodation and meal expenses of the selected Grantee.
Documentary evidence of the conference fee amount must be provided by the applicant and in kind, must be archived by the Grant Holder along with the relevant administrative documents.
